CROWN 2 CROWN

Yesterday saw yet again another fantastic Crown to Crown 5k Trail Race, hosted by Pitsea Running Club.

As per usual, the course looked demanding with the final hill, which has oftenbeen described as “vicious”. This time round, we had three BRC runners take part in this midweek run, in a field of 119. The cool weather conditions made it perfect for running, even the wind was having a rareday off. Benfleet Running Club had Ray T attend to cheer and support our runners. Ray reported:

“There was a superb run from Gary C, who was home in 4th place, in 18:51. I’d like to think that I’d have been up there with him, had I not been injured! With Gary only just regaining hisfitness, he’s definitely one to watch out for.

Next home from Benfleet was Mick V. On Sunday he ran a 1:26 half marathon, followed by a hill effort session on Tuesday, and crossed the line in 20:13! A great and well deserved 16th place finish.

Flying the flag for the ladies, was Lisa B, who again had a great run, considering she’d also run a half marathon on Sunday and effort session on Tuesday! She finished 7th out of the female runners in a great time of 26:25!”

A huge thanks to Ray for attending the event and being the BRC Cheerleader, and a special thank you to Pitsea RC, for hosting this super friendly and well organised event.

Excitement is already building for the next event in July, which will form part of the BRC Trail Grand Prix!
