Essex Cross Country Championships
Benfleet Running Club saw some great success at the Essex Cross Country Champoinships at Claybury on 07/01/2017. Under 17 womans contender from Benfleet Running Club Sinead Clark was first to stake her claim on the event by crossing the line in 5th place which automatically secures her place in the UK inter-counties Cross Country Championships in March for the 3rd year in a row.
The under 17 male competition was represented only by Dexter Goward for Benfleet Running Club who came 25th in his age group
Again, just a single entry for Benfleet Running Club in the under 20 male competition from Kieran Feltham. Kieran did exceptionally well in a highly competitive category t secure 18th place with a time of 33 minutes
The Senior ladies and men from Benfleet Running Club did an equally exceptional job, both securing 10th place in the team championships. Scoring for the Benfleet ladies were 34th Jacqui Watson, 49th Kate Wilkinson, 51st Jayne Stacey, 66th Kelly McClenaghan, 83rd Mandy Cooper and 89th Sarah Norton.
For the Benfleet RC men Andrew low set the pace completing the race in 32nd place. Coming back to running George Watts looked strong with a 47th place. 71st place was secured by Terry Spooner, 74th for Graham Booty followed by Alan Clark in 80th place finalizing the score earning places for BRC came Nick Rankin in 96th place. Also from BRC was:
Annette Johnson (96th) and Laura Williams in 112th place. For the men BRC were represented by Richard Jones 101st, Brian Venton came 125th, 138th for Mike Grout and 165 place for Stephen Burton
Brixton 10K
Just a sole Benfleet Running club member took part in the Brixton 10k, but in an attempt to prove that BRC has what it takes Dan Carter secured 5th place in a startling time of 00:37:44
