From Brighton to Boston!

So this weekend was week 2 of the big 3 marathons of April and Benfleet’s Red and White were once again out in force. At Brighton we had 8 runners in the Marathon plus two in the 10k and representing us at Boston was the Lows.

Brighton

Shelley Taylor in prep for London next week ran the 10k in a time of 46.48, 80th female out of nearly 3000 and 18th in her age category – impressive for somebody who should be taking in easy!  Only just beating Shelly was Ciaran Daniel Bryn who finished in 43.56 230 overall

In the marathon 1st home for Benfleet was Club Captain Graham Booty in 3.09.58 and position 243 out of nearly 20,000 runners. Graham was followed closely by Dan Carter in 3.11.59 in position 322, 1st Lady home for BRC was Isla Sinclair in her 1st marathon since 2010 beating her previous time by some distance with a new PB of 3.45.29 a fantastic result and she was the 211th lady.

Next home was Kelly McClenaghan in 4.10.24 , then Trevor Mickleburgh in 4.11.25, Mark Smith followed in a time of 4.16.45 all coming in the top 5000 for the event. Despite the race not going to plan and wanting to give up from about two thirds of the way Ange Hall dug deep to complete the race in 4.28.47. Next up was Sean Allison in his 3rd marathon this year (and a week before also doing London!) finished in 4.29.05 followed closely by Mark Cowan also in his 3rd of the year after running Manchester last week in 4.31.48. The invincible Anne Reed in her 3rd marathon for 2018 completed the race in 5.16.24
