Hockley Woods Trail Challenge
Ultra distances were achieved Benfleet Running Club’s Daniel Lyons at the Hockley Woods Trail Challenge. Taking third overall Lyons completed 10 laps of the hilly and muddy 3.3 mile course in 6.03.56
Essex 20
The weather may have been cold and damp, but Benfleet Running Club showed that their outlook is bright at the Essex 20. Delivering a fantastic 11th place and BRC record time of 1:59:05 James Caldon set the pace for the rest of the Red and Whites. Not wanting to be out done Andrew Low romped home with a 2:05:32 time securing him 39th place. Benfleet’s Michael Valbonesi Was the next across the line with a 2:12:18 time making him the first male over 50.
Ciaran Byrne of BRC put in a strong performance with a time of 2:29:35 followed by first BRC lady home, Nikki Leigh. Leigh managed a time of 2:38:23. Jack Hodges continues to improve in his running journey completing the 20 miles in 2:45:43. Stephen Burton and Tom Robinson crossed the line together in a time of 2:47:13. Angela Hall struggled with injury through the race to valiantly complete the course in 2:55:12, closely followed by team mate Nikki Panter in 2:55:27.
Also from Benfleet RC were Mark Cowan (2:58:40), Alison Horsley (2:59:09), Isla Sinclair (3:00:29) and Kevin Judge (3:00:36).
