This Sunday Benfleet runners were at the ready for various races throughout the country including Brentwood Half, Oakley 20, Finchley 20 and The Grizzly only to be thwarted by the Beast From The East part 2!
Only the Grizzly went ahead and this was downgraded from the full event at 20 miles to the shorter, but equally tough, Cub version at 10 miles. 17 hardcore Benfleet runners completed the multi terrain race in East Devon covering mud, bogs, beach and hills all made harder but extreme weather conditions.
1st home for Benfleet was Elizabeth Peterson in 1 hour 29 in a fantastic 32nd out of 487 female competitors. Team work and club spirit, and apparently the odd pit stop in the Pub!, got the rest of the field over the line in times ranging from 1hour 55 to 2 hours 23.
