BRC Super Sunday!

Where do I start with this weekends reports, fantastic achievements from lots of BRC runners this weekend from events in the South, the north and in-between.!

Starting at Greater Manchester Marathon where we had 9 runners competing:-

1st home for BRC with a 2 minute PB and an unbelievable 27th out of over 20,000 runners was James Caldon in 2.38.01 followed only 10 minutes later by Ben Green with a massive 8 minute PB.  Next in just over 3 hours was John Gould in position 661. After a battle back from injury Steve Burton managed a PB of 8 minutes achieving his 1st  Good For Age Time of 3.19.04 followed closely by his training partner & club captain Jayne Stacey with her own 8 minute PB in a time of 3.22.12. Next in 3.37.41 was Lee Gumbrell followed by Sean Allison completing the course in just over 4 hours. Despite injury from half way Mark Cowan still managed to cross the line in 4.21 followed closely by BRC newest member to the marathon club Liane Conners who broke the 4.30 mark in her 1st ever marathon in a time of 4.27.05.

Next up Matthew Bird competed in the South Downs Ultra a 50 mile race from Worthing to Eastbourne across, as the name suggests, footpaths, bridleways and hills of the South downs finishing on a track after 5700ft of elevation. Matthew finished this gruelling test in an impressive 9:23:57, coming 47th in Male Vets aged 40-49.

Further afield Dan Carter represented BRC in the Rotterdam Marathon finishing in position 744 out of nearly 14,000 runners in an impressive time of 3.07.13

Closer to home Graham Booty competed in the Basildon Aquathlon a 400m swim followed by a 5k run and not to be outdone by the Lady Captains achievements Graham won his category of Males 40+ completing the swim in 5 minutes 53 and the run in 21 minutes 23 for an overall time of 27.16 nearly 2 minutes ahead of the next competitor

Last but not least BRC had 8 runners in the Bromley 10k where 1st home for Benfleet and in 17th overall was Lee Baynton with a PB of 34.03 followed closely by Andy Low in 35.07 then Nick Rankin in 38.15. Richard Jones, Sarah Grabowski, Kiera Tippett, (1st under 20 Fem) Kevin Judge (PB of 49.00) and Frances Webster made up the rest of the BRC field and full results below.
