This weekend we had the 1st ever marathon in the UK, (possibly the world!) completely over water, and a few of the Benfleet hard core braved the 12 laps of Southend Pier.
Just under 100 runners completed the 26.2 miles and 1st home for Benfleet in 32nd was Michael Waters in 3.50.41 gun time(no chip timing) also breaking the 4 hour mark in 3.55.49 was Mark Cowan in 39th. Next was Sean Allison in 4.16.04 and position 56 followed by Ann & Paul Reed crossing the finish line together in 5.05.31 and positions 80 and 81.
