Rayleigh 10k / Dusseldorf Marathon

Well what a difference a week can make, last Sunday BRC battled blue skys and temperatures in the mid 20’s and this week those competing in the Rayleigh 10k faced rain, cold wet and mud!

We had 10 runners representing Benfleet at the 10k cross country course using pathways & bridleways.from Belchamps through Hockley Woods, Grove Woods, Cherry Orchard Park and Gusted Hall Woods,

1st home from Benfleet in 5th position out of 443 runners was Damien Harvey and one of only 6 to break the 40 minute barrier in 39.31, next was Ciaran Daniel Bryn enjoying his off road run! in 46.46 in what looks like a tight fought battle with Paul West in 46.55 in positions 51 & 52 respectively.

1st home for the BRC ladies and 14th lady overall was Isla Sinclair in 50.28 followed by Angela Benfield also breaking the 60 minute mark in 59.20.

Next no race results would be complete without Ann Reed and Paul Reed who came in in together in 1.03.26 and 1.03.27 and by all accounts got a taste for XC and we look forward to them joining us latter this year!

Ian Caldwell completed the course in 1.03.41 and position 273 followed 1 minute later by Mandy Cooper in 1.04.43 and then by Sarah De in 1.16.32

Well done to everybody, full results can be found on the website

Further afield Daniel Carter competed in his 4th of 7 marathons at Dusseldorf only 1 week after London finishing in an impressive 3.10.50 in position 332
